New Release: Orcus Unchained by Larry Ivkovich

Larry Ivkovich has been an author in IFWG’s stable for 6 years, debuting with his urban fantasy novel, The Sixth Precept (Book 1 of the Spirit Winds Quartet). We absolutely fell in love with his book – it ticked so many boxes, such as having exotic locations (notably Japan), drawing from ancient mythologies, time travel, and introducing a kick-ass female protagonist. Over the years we have published Book 2 of the series, Warriors of the Light, and a special chap-ebook that dovetails wonderfully with the quartet – A Concerned Citizen.

We are very pleased indeed to announce the release of the third book of the Spirit Winds Quartet – Orcus Unchained. We think it’s Larry’s best yet.

Orcus Unchained Front Cover

As you can see on the cover, Naples features strongly in this instalment, along with feudal Japan and Pittsburgh – exotic indeed! Thanks to Elizabeth Lang from EL Designs for producing evocative, dark covers throughout the series. Continue reading

New Release: Pedal by Louis K Lowy

A few days ago in our Australian imprint we stated that while we are a specialist children’s and adult speculative fiction publishing company, we can’t ignore work of excellent quality. Especially when the writer is an existing author with us.

We are very pleased indeed to have acquired the rights to publish Louis K. Lowy‘s Pedal, an inspiring literary novel about empowering women, set in the unique world of bicycle racing.

Pedal Front Cover

Fired from her lifelong passion: teaching music.

Stripped of her self-worth.

Can she regain her life through bicycle racing?

Joanne Brick’s thirty years as an elementary school music teacher evaporated into the rising sea of layoffs. A lifetime of dedication gone. At forty-nine, single with an ailing mother and bitter, divorced sister, the future looked bleak. Then one day, while cleaning out the garage for a yard sale, inspiration struck as she dusted off an old, forgotten bicycle. And when she took her first ride she knew it was time to sink or pedal.

Pedal is an inspirational journey. It is a contemporary story that deal not only with family relationships, but with life’s turning points and how ordinary people deal with them.

Pedal is now available in all ebook formats from all good electronic book stores. The print version will be available in all good online stores in coming days, but can be purchased now from the publisher.

Book Release: Numen! by Biola Olatunde

We have been waiting quite a while, and now we are proud to announce the release of the last of the Numen Yeye series, Numen!, by Biola Olatunde. The first book, Numen Yeye, was published in 2013, and the second book, Rose of Numen, in 2015. Now the series is complete and we cannot be happier.

draft-front-cover-numen

Biola is one of our first batch of authors when we started as a much smaller concern, and we were particularly chuffed to be able to publish an African author. Her first book, Blood Contract, while not part of our speculative fiction range, is a powerful novel that delves deeply into Nigerian culture, warts and all. Her Numen Yeye trilogy does the same, but this time it is intertwined with the spiritualism and religion of ancient Nigeria, and is best labelled as contemporary African fantasy. Inward analysis is what Biola is best at, and we are excited to be her publisher.

This is what the reader’s synopsis says of Numen!:

Ife is now married, and in the material world her status is elevated by Babatunde, her husband, now Kabiyesi, the Lion of his people.

Ife’s life and spiritual journey is still in a state of flux and uncertain. More than ever before she witnesses the corruption and vice of society, particularly among those who are supposed to represent the people. This complicates matters further. She is fully reconciled with being the incarnation of Numen, the ancient spirit entity, but Ife/Numen now needs to find purpose in this Nigerian landscape.

There are also entities from the spirit realm who wish to undermine her…

Enter the last chapter in this spiritual fantasy, interlaced with Biola Olatunde’s unique idiom tied so closely to her beloved homeland.

Numen! is a fitting end story to the trilogy and shows love and bonding, and most importantly, reveals much of Nigeria’s internal challenges – with a ray of hope.

Numen! will soon be available for purchase through all good online print stores, and in ebook format in about a week. You can purchase it now through our store.

For those US readers who haven’t read the first two titles, we have a very special discount offer to purchase all three by clicking here.

Thanks to Elizabeth Lang for a worthy cover design, in style with the whole trilogy.

Congratulations to Biola Olatunde for the completion of her magnificent trilogy.

New Release: Port Buxaca by Warren Goodwin

We have waited 2 years for the sequel to Buxacan Spicerunner, and now we have the final instalment of the great pirate fantasy adventure series. And Warren Goodwin delivers in spades with Port Buxaca. Thanks to Jeffery E Doherty for a great scene from the book depicted on the front cover, matching marvellously the first title.

front cover port buxaca

Sako Pizi has been very busy. He’s fought off or eluded every warship he’s encountered, and taken or looted every cargo runner he’s seen. He took a company slaverunner from Chains and Clavvish Enterprises, and neither crew nor cargo have been seen since. He looted the Northern Trading Company’s colony of Stafa and burned it to the ground. He held Sevulian Lord Arvin’s children for ransom, and did the same to Falero, the nephew of the  Jono Queen. He’s currently sailing in an Alarfaji vessel, and he killed one of their princes to get it.

The authorities in Sevulia and the Republic of Agresia want to see him hang. The Tayan Navy wants his head.  A noble in Jonos wants to remove another part of his anatomy. And the Alarfaji are on the way south, looking for answers concerning their prince.

A cautious sailor of enterprise might just sail for parts unknown to wait for the heat to die down. But Sako has never been cautious…

Port Buxaca is now available through all good online print stores (for example, Amazon), including great deals through the publisher. Ebooks will be available soon.

News: New Release – The Gate at Lake Drive by Shaun Meeks

The Gate at Lakes Drive front cover

IFWG is primarily an adult speculative fiction publishing house and yet we haven’t published any dark fiction, horror if you will, except for our Australian imprint and some anthologies. Shaun Meeks fills this hole, and with a great deal of good reading!

It is with pleasure that we announce the release of Shaun’s novel, The Gate at Lake Drive, the first in what we hope will be a long running series, paying homage to detective noir stories, and weird, supernatural themes.

News: New Release – A Planet’s Search for History by MF Bnrbaugh

APSH v2b Cover_rgp

MF Burbaugh is one of IFWG’s earliest authors, and he is a prolific writer indeed. What astonishes us is that, despite the speed in which he writes novels, they are always entertaining pieces, with a great deal of action and interesting characters. A Planet’s Search for History is one such title and has now been released.

Elizabeth Lang’s evocative cover is perfectly suited to the novel because the high and precipitous mountain that is about to be scaled by the protagonists, is the opening scene, and is at the centre of much of the storyline.

News: New Release – Escape From The Psi Academy by Vincent L Scarsella

Psi Academy Escape front cover

Only a month or two ago we were happy to release The Smoking Mirror, by David Bowles, in part because it was the first of our imprint’s line of young teen/middle grade novels. Lo and behold! we now have a second, Escape From The Psi Academy, Book 1 of the Psi Wars! series, by Vincent L. Scarsella.  “We have particular love of stories for this age group,” IFWG Managing Director, Gerry Huntman, stated, “because adventure is unadulterated, uncomplicated, and escapism is the goal.” We are sure that middle grade readers, as well as young adults and adults, will enjoy the first of this exciting series.

SM-front-cover

IFWG Publishing has been waiting in anticipation for this, and it is with great pleasure that we announce the release of the fantasy novel, The Smoking Mirror, by David Bowles. “This is an important release for us,” IFWG Managing Director, Gerry Huntman, stated, “as this is our first young teen/YA release to the US market. We have other titles targeted for UK/Australian/New Zealand readers, but there was a great big hole in our US market. This fills it admirably.”

New Title: Children’s book, Golden Spinner

IFWG Publishing has been supporting for most of its company life causes that are worthy, particularly for children. Paper Magic is an example by our cousin in Australia, that teaches children with challenges the power of self-esteem.

We are now proud to announce the release of Golden Spinner, which largely addresses school bullying. Jennifer R. Resetar, the prime author, grew up with Cerebral Palsy and was subject to school bullying. She learned how to stand up for herself and this story (two stories in fact) draws from her experience. The title is richly illustrated by John Powers.

The description of the title is as follows:

Golden Spinner is a story about a child named Alex, who is being bullied. He feels there is no hope, life is no longer fun. Then one day something amazing happens that changes not only his life but the life of the boy who is bullying him.

Come join the adventure as a new superhero is born, a superhero that stops bullying!

The title is currently available in ebook formats directly from the publisher (Mobi and EPUB), and will be in Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo stores over the next few days.

The print version will be available in coming weeks.
