Guilt ridden over the death of her 17-year-old son, Jay, scientist Niyati Bopari heads a team that creates a Humachine (human machine) for mega-corporation Ameri-Inc. Niyati dubs the Humachine J-1 and creates it in Jay’s image. She secretly infuses it with Jay’s DNA. J-1 is the most sophisticated robot ever created and its purpose is to replace human labor. Before J-1 and his blueprints can be transported to Ameri-Inc. headquarters a rogue Ameri-Inc. agent attempts to steal them.

Anatomy of a Humachine is a science fiction tour de force spanning two centuries and crossing two planets. Book I: To Dream centers on J-1, an artificial intelligence struggling to find his humanity; the grieving scientist who created him; the ruthless head of the corporation who owns him; and the iron-willed leader of a rebel force seeking revenge for the death of her family and the destruction of her planet.

The following is the story’s blurb:

Ever wonder where you came from? Where it all started?

This is the account of four people who start out looking for their ancient past, one of several groups funded by a wealthy politician. They must climb a frozen mountain and hunt for a place called Castle Gods-Cut. ‘Cut’ was thought to have once meant ‘origin’.

What they find is a single door blocked by ice that leads to a huge complex of caves and doors, some deadly, some leading to places that can’t possibly exist anywhere on their planet.

With the help of a rescued A.I. that thinks she should look like one of an ancient race called humans, events develop that may determine if humanoids of any kind shall be allowed to exist in the galaxy, as they encounter a race of aliens that love people. For snack food that is.

Cover Reveal: The Gate at Lake Drive by Shaun Meeks

In less than a week IFWG Publishing (international) will be releasing its first horror title, The Gate at Lake Drive, by Canadian author, Shaun Meeks. It is the first of the Dillon the Monster Dick series, with a distinctive noir detective style (hence the series title), meshed with horror. As an added bonus, we have included a short story, ‘The Undergarment Eater’, whose protagonist is the same detective, Dillon.

We secured the artistry and skills of Steve Santiago for the cover, and are keen indeed to share with everyone. Below is the atmospheric front cover, as well the full spread for your eyes’ delight.

The following is a taste of what’s in store:

Meet Dillon, the Monster Dick. He’s a detective of sorts, a man hired to hunt down things that have come into our world that have no right to be here. Whether it’s a monster made up of paint cans and rags, spirits that hide in carpets, or animals possessed by demons, Dillon will dispatch them as soon as he finds them.

His new job is up in northern Ontario, where the mayor has hired him to deal with creatures that seem to be coming from a whirlpool in the middle of the lake. When he hears this, he’s more worried than he’s ever been. In all the years Dillon has been a hunter, he’s never once heard of a flock of monsters coming into this realm.

Dillon heads there with his new friend, Rouge Hills, and finds nothing is what it seems. It’s not just one type of monster, but something far worse trying to be born into our world. The odds are stacked against him, but since the money is good, there’s no turning back.

It might be a little long…
