Forthcoming Release: Archsage by Jesse McMinn

IFWG is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the third and last volume in Jesse McMinn‘s Tower series, Archsage. “We picked up the first book in the series back in 2013,” said Managing Director Gerry Huntman, “when Jesse was still in College in Canada. The novel entranced us, as it had a high degree of originality and endearing characters. Six years later we conclude the series with a highly mature work, reflecting Jesse’s own journey in life. We are pleased to have the complete series in April and would encourage all lovers of fantasy to join in this celebration by reading the Tower volumes.”

Kyle Campbell is a vagrant, a traveller between worlds who has found himself trapped in the strange and magical land of Loria. In this world, his power is boundless; but his arrival has attracted the attention of dangerous enemies, and Kyle wants nothing more than to return to the world where he belongs.

After earning the favor of the Buorish king and barely escaping the wrath of twin assassins Lian and Lacaster, Kyle learns the identity of the one person in Loria who can help him find a way back home: a figure forgotten by time, known only as the Archsage.

In order to hold counsel with the Archsage, Kyle and his companions must travel to the very ends of the earth and brave the wilderlands of Westia, the harshest continent on the planet. But they have little choice; Kyle’s homeworld is calling to him, and his time in Loria is running out.

The final chapter of Kyle’s story has begun.

The Hidden City front-C

When Carol and Johnny learn of the Ollamat, an ancient stone that can channel savage magic, they convince their parents to take them to the cloud forests of Oaxaca. With Pingo’s help, they search for the legendary city where it has been protected for a thousand years.

But the twins aren’t the only ones hunting for the Ollamat. After it is stolen, they must travel through an emerald mirror into the beautiful yet dangerous Tlalocan: the paradise of the rain god. To retrieve the stone, they must face talking apes and forest elementals, rock worms and vicious elves, demons of lightning and something even more unexpected: the souls of people they have watched die.

As always, they are aided by allies old and new, though nothing can quite prepare them for the biggest foe of all – a member of their very family.

The Hidden City is available in all good bricks and mortar and online book stores, in print and ebook formats.

New Signing: Archsage by Jesse McMinn

IFWG Publishing is delighted to announce the signing of the third and last instalment of Canadian author Jesse McMinn‘s Tower series, Archsage.

We have  had a long association with this talented writer, and in fact Jesse was still in College when he handed his first manuscript over to us. It was a refreshing, innovative approach to epic fantasy as well as parallel worlds. Following the publishing of Loria (book 1), came Trials, which showed Jesse wasn’t a one-hit wonder, and left us all on tenterhooks for the final instalment of the trilogy.

We look forward to releasing Archsage in June 2018.

New Signing: The Second Life of Eddie Coyne by Louis K Lowy

IFWG Publishing has been fortunate to have published a number of books by Florida-based Louis K Lowy, and we’re always pleasantly surprised by the variety of styles and subject matter that he comes up with. Acquiring the rights to his latest novel, The Second Life of Eddie Coyne was a no brainer – an amazing story of a dying gambler who takes on a bet for the ultimate prize—a chance to save his soul. Fans of Lowy will love it; anyone who loves thoughtful, imaginative speculative fiction will adore it.

We are scheduling its release for October 2018.

New Release: Orcus Unchained by Larry Ivkovich

Larry Ivkovich has been an author in IFWG’s stable for 6 years, debuting with his urban fantasy novel, The Sixth Precept (Book 1 of the Spirit Winds Quartet). We absolutely fell in love with his book – it ticked so many boxes, such as having exotic locations (notably Japan), drawing from ancient mythologies, time travel, and introducing a kick-ass female protagonist. Over the years we have published Book 2 of the series, Warriors of the Light, and a special chap-ebook that dovetails wonderfully with the quartet – A Concerned Citizen.

We are very pleased indeed to announce the release of the third book of the Spirit Winds Quartet – Orcus Unchained. We think it’s Larry’s best yet.

Orcus Unchained Front Cover

As you can see on the cover, Naples features strongly in this instalment, along with feudal Japan and Pittsburgh – exotic indeed! Thanks to Elizabeth Lang from EL Designs for producing evocative, dark covers throughout the series. Continue reading

Preview: The Hidden City by David Bowles

David BowlesGarza Twins series is an outstanding set of middle grade novels, set in our world where the mythology of central America is all too real. The protagonists – the shapeshifting twins Carol and Johnny – are Mexican-American, filling a much needed diversity gap in young teen reading. The first book of the series, The Smoking Mirror, won the prestigious ALA Belpré Honor, and is IFWG’s best selling book. Book 2, A Kingdom Beneath the Waves, has also received critical acclaim.

Next year we will be publishing Book 3, The Hidden City. We felt David’s many fans deserve a preview of this novel, so we have Chapter One reproduced below. We will soon reveal the cover.

Chapter One

“Okay, guys, that was my mom.” Carol leaned toward her monitor with a sad smile. “Time for bed, I guess.”

“What?” Jessica demanded from the Skype screen. “Dude, tomorrow is the last day of classes!”

Exacto,” Itza agreed. “Piensa, güey—we’re not going to be at the same school anymore! Can’t she give you a little more time?”

Carol glanced at the little box where Nikki’s face stared out at her. The girl said nothing, but there was sadness all over her features.

Two-eBook Bundle: Numen Yeye series by Biola Olatunde

We are happy to announce that Kindle book buyers will now see Biola Olatunde‘s Numen Yeye series bundle on Amazon sites at a special price for the first two books. IFWG Publishing Australia will release the third, much-anticipated last instalment very early in 2017.

Biola is our precious African author, based in Nigeria, and her Numen Yeye novels are a wonderful mix of contemporary African fiction, interlaced with deep tradition and mythology – her own brand of fantasy. Biola doesn’t hold back, providing insightful criticism of Western influence as well as the underbelly of superstition in her culture.

The books are written in the idiom of Nigerian English, with a mild translation for Western English consumption.

Numen Yeye
Numen Yeye is about two worlds, inextricably interconnected. Numen Yeye is a princess in the Kingdom of Light, and her spirit is channeled through a young girl called Ife, who lives in a Nigerian village. Ife’s awareness of her Light connection grows, but not as quickly as her dismay with the abuse of Nigeria’s religious heritage in dark practices. And yet she recognizes what relevance her heritage has to her peoples’, and her own, personal lives.

Numen Yeye is a story about Ife’s discovery of her meaning in life, and despite her growing, special abilities, it resonates with each and every reader. It is universal in theme. Numen Yeye is also about the spiritual lives of the Nigerian peoples, including their village customs and rites. It is a revelation.

Rose of Numen
Ife is no longer a young girl, but a woman living in the city, practicing medicine. She still carries within her, however, the spirit of Numen Yeye, a princess from the Kingdom of Light.

While Ife’s life is professionally fulfilling, she is suffering from her transitional state – her ties back to her village and her family, the reconciliation between her spiritual and earthly forms, and her very special connection with Babatunde, her soul-mate.

Rose of Numen continues Ife’s journey through the ancient rhythms of traditional Nigerian culture, and the impact of the modern world.

Enter this spiritual fantasy, interlaced with Biola Olatunde’s unique idiom tied so closely to her homeland.
