It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of Earthbound and Down by Canadian writer, Shaun Meeks. It is Book 2 of the Dillon, the Monster Dick series.
“We have been looking forward to this second instalment for some time,” Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG stated. “We fell in love with Dillon and his friends in Book 1 [The Gate at Lake Drive], particularly its quirky mix of Mythos / Whovian / Noir and, dare I say it, Men in Black storylines. Both books are simply fantastic!”
Earthbound and Down is now available through all good online ebook stores (click here to find links) and in coming days will be available through all good print stores. If eager, you can purchase direct from the Publisher now.
Larry Ivkovich launched book 3 of his Spirit Winds Quartet, Orcus Unchained, at Confluence Science Fiction Convention in Pittsburgh on August 6 this year. By all reports it was a very successful event.

We know a lot of fans have been waiting for Book 3 of the Garza Twins series by David Bowles, The Hidden City. It will be released in Q2 2018, which may disappoint some, but at the least we can reveal the front cover – yet another fantastic design and artwork by Charlene Bowles.
For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of reading David’s young teen/middle grade series, click on the earlier book covers to find out more about what it’s all about, and why he won an American Library Association Honor Award for The Smoking Mirror. You way also want to read the first chapter (previously posted). Continue reading
Larry Ivkovich has been an author in IFWG’s stable for 6 years, debuting with his urban fantasy novel, The Sixth Precept (Book 1 of the Spirit Winds Quartet). We absolutely fell in love with his book – it ticked so many boxes, such as having exotic locations (notably Japan), drawing from ancient mythologies, time travel, and introducing a kick-ass female protagonist. Over the years we have published Book 2 of the series, Warriors of the Light, and a special chap-ebook that dovetails wonderfully with the quartet – A Concerned Citizen.
We are very pleased indeed to announce the release of the third book of the Spirit Winds Quartet – Orcus Unchained. We think it’s Larry’s best yet.
As you can see on the cover, Naples features strongly in this instalment, along with feudal Japan and Pittsburgh – exotic indeed! Thanks to Elizabeth Lang from EL Designs for producing evocative, dark covers throughout the series. Continue reading
Our longstanding author, Larry Ivkovich, kindly sent us a commentary on his experience at the recent Nebula Awards.
Eighteen years ago, the Nebula Awards were held in Pittsburgh at the downtown Marriot City Center Hotel. At that time, the prestigious event hosted by SFWA lasted roughly a day-and-a-half with no real programming to speak of. That’s changed over the years and this year’s Nebulas, held in the same venue, featured a full slate of panels and presentations.
I, like many local SF fans and volunteers from Parsec, Pittsburgh’s premier SF/Fantasy organization, attended this year’s awards held from May 18 – 21. It was pretty dazzling. We all got a bulgingly-full canvas shoulder bag of books at registration donated by TOR Books, one of the con’s sponsors. The panels I attended were informative, fun, and inspiring. At Thursday night’s Beer Tasting, I met Locus Magazine’s editor, Liza Trombi. Throughout the course of the weekend, I met several of the upcoming new generation of SF writers, including Nebula winners and nominees William Ledbetter, Bonnie Jo Stufflebeam, Amal El-Mohtar, Charlie Jane Anders, and Victor LaValle, among others.

As previously posted, IFWG Publishing International is very excited to collaborate with IFWG Publishing Australia for the publication of a unique, ‘what if’ anthology in early 2018, titled ‘Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Was Not’. The premise is simple enough; what if Sherlock Holmes had a different offsider than Doctor Watson?
Christopher Sequeira will be editor for this anthology.
Now that contracts have been finalised, we can announce the authors, and the alt-doctors that will feature in their stories:
Leslie S. Klinger Foreword: ‘Sherlock Amongst the Doctors’
Behind a cover by Oscar Winner Dave Elsey
Christopher Sequeira Watson in ‘The Final Prologue’
Dennis O’Neil Doc Holliday
Nancy Holder Dr John Seward
Will Murray Dr Herbert West
Ron Fortier Dr Amelia Van Helsing
Rafe McGregor Dr Grimesby Roylott
Andrew Salmon Dr Conan Doyle
I. A. Watson Dr John Dee
J. Scherpenhuizen Dr Heironymus Mabuse
Brad Mengel Dr Antonio Nikola
Philip Cornell Dr Henry Jekyll
Julie Ditrich Dr Theodore Moriarty
Those in the know will recognise may of these great writers.
Again, stay tuned for more news about this unique anthology.
David Bowles‘ Garza Twins series is an outstanding set of middle grade novels, set in our world where the mythology of central America is all too real. The protagonists – the shapeshifting twins Carol and Johnny – are Mexican-American, filling a much needed diversity gap in young teen reading. The first book of the series, The Smoking Mirror, won the prestigious ALA Belpré Honor, and is IFWG’s best selling book. Book 2, A Kingdom Beneath the Waves, has also received critical acclaim.
Next year we will be publishing Book 3, The Hidden City. We felt David’s many fans deserve a preview of this novel, so we have Chapter One reproduced below. We will soon reveal the cover.
“Okay, guys, that was my mom.” Carol leaned toward her monitor with a sad smile. “Time for bed, I guess.”
“What?” Jessica demanded from the Skype screen. “Dude, tomorrow is the last day of classes!”
“Exacto,” Itza agreed. “Piensa, güey—we’re not going to be at the same school anymore! Can’t she give you a little more time?”
Carol glanced at the little box where Nikki’s face stared out at her. The girl said nothing, but there was sadness all over her features.

When author contracts are finalised we will announce the TOC, but rest assured, we have international luminaries of the sub-genre offering amazing gaslight stories. As a tantaliser, we can say the cover art will be by Dave Elsey, well known as a cover artist and Academy and Saturn Award winning artist in makeup, special effects and animatronix.

A few days ago in our Australian imprint we stated that while we are a specialist children’s and adult speculative fiction publishing company, we can’t ignore work of excellent quality. Especially when the writer is an existing author with us.
We are very pleased indeed to have acquired the rights to publish Louis K. Lowy‘s Pedal, an inspiring literary novel about empowering women, set in the unique world of bicycle racing.
Fired from her lifelong passion: teaching music.
Stripped of her self-worth.
Can she regain her life through bicycle racing?
Joanne Brick’s thirty years as an elementary school music teacher evaporated into the rising sea of layoffs. A lifetime of dedication gone. At forty-nine, single with an ailing mother and bitter, divorced sister, the future looked bleak. Then one day, while cleaning out the garage for a yard sale, inspiration struck as she dusted off an old, forgotten bicycle. And when she took her first ride she knew it was time to sink or pedal.
Pedal is an inspirational journey. It is a contemporary story that deal not only with family relationships, but with life’s turning points and how ordinary people deal with them.
Pedal is now available in all ebook formats from all good electronic book stores. The print version will be available in all good online stores in coming days, but can be purchased now from the publisher.
