IFWG Publishing is very pleased to release Karen Bayly’s middle grade fantasy, The Witch Who Wasn’t. The beautiful artwork and design is by Greg Chapman.
“IFWG is proud of its middle grade line,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director, “and Bayly’s new novel is amazing addition. We fell in love with the story when we read Bayly’s manuscript, and the end result is a great read and a unique take on the witch-academy subgenera – we believe young teens will lap this up.”
When Tabitha Two Owls was a baby, the great wizard Odelfius pronounced her ‘The Witch Who Wasn’t’. Her best friend, Jemima Jerribode, believes that Odelfius didn’t intend any insult but merely forgot to finish his sentence. However, his proclamation left Tabitha doubting her identity. She has dedicated her life to proving her worth as a witch, with disastrous results.
Tabitha flunks her final school exam and fails to redeem herself at the Hall of Trials. The powerful Eldwitches ban her from practising magic, leaving her adrift in a sea of disillusion. But fate has a plan for the young witch. A series of events forces her to reclaim her magical heritage and lead a battle against an ancient evil threatening to destroy the land. In doing so, she understands what being The Witch Who Wasn’t truly means.
The Witch Who Wasn’t is now available from all quality online and bricks and mortar stories, in print and ebook formats. I’ve just finished reading this book. It’s gripping and exciting. Karen creates wonderfully rich characters who inhabit a believable and well sketched world. I think not only young adults but older adults will enjoy this story.
