IFWG is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Jesse McMinn’s dark fantasy novel, Mero and the City of Ghosts.
“It is a very welcome acquisition for us,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG, “in part because we want good representation of fantasy in our forward catalogue, and also because we published a trilogy by McMinn some years ago and we want more of his magic. A double boon for us.”
Jesse McMinn is a Canadian writer and lover of fantasy raised on a healthy diet of Brian Jacques, David Eddings, and Terry Pratchett. He currently lives in Toronto with his wife Nicole and their family mascot, Pickle the crested gecko. His previous publications through IFWG are (all part of The Tower series): Loria, Trials, and Archsage.
The blade – I can’t break it. It can’t be snapped or melted down. It can’t even be scratched. And it gets hungry. I have to use it, every so often. If I don’t – it’s like a fishhook in my heart. I don’t dare deny it. I don’t know what will happen if I do.
Mero is the wielder of Sheathless, an enchanted sword that extends its owner’s life by draining the lifeblood of others. But the immortality it bestows comes at a terrible price, for while Mero can never die, neither can he truly live. Doomed to an existence of loneliness and suffering, he wanders the war-scorched earth, haunted by a goddess whose voice only he can hear.
Then the goddess sends Mero a vision, and he sets out on a journey to free himself from his curse, a journey that will take him to the edge of the world and beyond. A journey to Uron, the city of ghosts.
Mero and the City of Ghosts will be released in the first quarter of 2025.
