On the evening of the 1st February 2018 IFWG had a great launch of Cthulhu Deep Down Under Volume 1, with a strong attendance, many of whom are notable in the spec-fic community in Melbourne and surrounds. It was held in the spacious and atmospheric Readings St Kilda, where the staff were very helpful.
Gerry Huntman (Managing Director IFWG) kicked off the event and spent a short time outlining the history of the book and the plans for the future in the series. Gerry announced that not only was there going to be three volumes of Cthulhu Deep Down Under, IFWG will be publishing this year a stand-alone New Zealand equivalent.
Christopher Sequeira introduced the authors (the majority were attending – Janeen Webb, Jason Franks, Aaron Sterns, Lucy Sussex, Dmetri Kakmi, and acknowledging those who were absent: B. Michael Radburn, William Tevelein), and also introduced Kim Walker (and her children), whose partner (Lindsay C Walker) crafted the frontispiece of the book (note: the book is dedicated to Lindsay’s memory).
Steve Proposch arranged a Skype session with Ramsey Campbell, as the great UK writer had contributed the introduction to the book. While technology let us down a little, causing the session to take place with a raised smartphone, it was nevertheless one of the highlights of the evening.
A big thank you to all who attended, Ramsey for taking time out for us, and Readings St Kilda for their kind assistance.
