“IFWG was very impressed with Samantha House’s manuscript when it crossed our desks” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG Publishing, “and it became a ‘must have’ when our submissions editor read it closely. Writing clean, compelling and fresh fantasy is a tall order these days, and House has absolutely nailed it with A Balance of Secrets.”
Samantha House started writing at fourteen when her grade nine history classes triggered a ‘what if’ moment in her brain. The what ifs and writing haven’t stopped and Samantha now has a collection of stories, as well as ideas begging to be written. An avid reader, she works in a bookshop where she gets to talk to other people who love books as much as she does. The fact that her TBR pile keeps growing because of their recommendations is a problem but one she happily embraces.
Samantha is based in Mandurah, Western Australia and lives with a horde of teenagers and her husband.
To save the country of Leth-aon, War must find his niece to prevent his evil father from becoming King.
War, a Duke’s son, was exiled from Leth-aon for unsavoury conduct. His illicit return coincides with his niece, the secret daughter of the queen, disappearing and it appears War’s father is responsible. Entrusted with finding her, War leaves with his estranged friend Autrey and the enigmatic Huw to save his niece and his country.
In a neighbouring world, Tuarwen, sister of the elf queen, finds humans fascinating. But most elves find them abhorrent, especially her sister. When a prophecy is born stating that humans and elves must work together for the benefit of all, Tuarwen takes it upon herself to see that it happens. Entering the human realm, she meets War and sets the prophecy in motion.
But other forces are at work and have their own agenda.
Will War find his niece and save his country from a power-hungry father or will the prophecy of the elves overrule all?
A Balance of Secrets will be globally released in print and ebook formats in Q4 of 2026.
