IFWG is delighted to announce the release of Michael B Fletcher’s second instalment in his Masters of Scent trilogy, Tumblers of Rolan. The magnificent cover art and design is by Boston-based Sarah Morrison.
“It is a pleasure to release the second of Fletcher’s unique fantasy series,” said Managing Director, Gerry Huntman. “Again, we have a master lesson in world-building, with premises never explored in this genre. We know fans will be delighted with Tumblers of Rolan.”
An uneasy peace follows the devastating civil war in Ean which ousted the vicious Sutanite ruler, Jakus. But the deposed leader heads an invasion force to seek revenge and to obtain supplies of a scent-enhancing crystal held in the peaceful neighbouring country of Rolan, that will intensify his powers.
The defenders, led by the tarnished Eanite hero, Targus, and an aging female mystic, Alethea, prepare to fight for their freedom against the ruthless enemy who is using a new and powerful scent-based weapon. But their task is made harder by a parasitic presence infecting Targus and seeking to control his will.
Ultimately, all that stands in the aggressors’ way is a new and subtle scent magic employed by the women of Rolan.
“Enter a skilfully conjured world where the people, animals and senses are altered from our own, where scent can be visible and magical. Imagine if we could understand our environment through heightened sensitivity to scent, to smell what has gone before and what is coming, and imagine if scent could be used to coerce, control and even assault others. Michael B. Fletcher builds an inventive, believable world of conflicted characters and some terrifying creatures, while exploring the alluring concept of scent as power.”
— Stephanie Parkyn, author of Into the World.

Tumblers of Rolan is available globally from all good bookstores, online and bricks and mortar – in print and ebook formats.
