IFWG is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Barbara J. Rosie’s fantasy series, Tangler’s Web.
“The premise of the storyline is original and the quality of the writing is of a high order,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG, “and consequently it was a no-brainer that we should take it on. IFWG has been looking for new, exciting fantasy fiction to add to its catalogue, and we have found some gems here.”
After a nursing career lasting many years, Barb retired to live amid the wetlands of an eco-village on the coast of South Australia’s stunning Fleurieu Peninsula, with her beautiful, if slightly neurotic, Australian Shepherd, Shiloh. Nestled between rolling hills and a panoramic coastline she is now free to write as often as she wants to, providing she can tear her gaze from the natural beauty outside her window.
She has enjoyed many creative writing courses, but was inspired and encouraged to take her writing more seriously after a Masterclass or two with Australian author, Fiona McIntosh, and now writes the fantasy books she always loved to read.
In the Kingdom of Cabarac, eligible young women who do not receive a token of betrothal are gathered for the Quota and shipped to the Legion Isles, never to be seen again. But when an act of mercy awakens a forbidden magic in a dedicated young healer, she faces an even greater danger. In Cabarac magic is a death sentence.
When Kira forgoes her only opportunity to receive a betrothal token to save the life of a young boy, she jeopardises both her future and her life. Accused of using magic by the fanatical dispatcher, Piscator, and imprisoned for execution inside the brazen dragon, Kira’s only option is to escape as part of the quota and flee.
As she strives to control a magic that erupts whenever her life is threatened, Kira struggles to reconcile her burgeoning power with her healer’s ethics to do no harm. Helped by an old conjurer, a blind Seer nun and the shade of a dragon dead for two centuries, Kira discovers her whole life has been built on a lie designed to protect her from the very threat she is now confronting. Unbeknownst to her, what she does with her newfound knowledge could change the fate of a kingdom.
The first book in the Tangler’s Web trilogy, The Brazen Dragon, will be released in the third quarter of 2025.
