New Acquisition: Drowning in the Dark and Other Stories by Matt Tighe

IFWG is very pleased to announce the acquisition of Matt Tighe’s collection of dark fiction, Drowning in the Dark and Other Stories.

“We have published Tighe’s short fiction in some of our award-winning anthologies ,” said Gerry Huntman, Managing Director of IFWG, “and we knew that getting a distillation of his best in a single book would be something special. Special it is.”

Matt is a dad, husband, writer and environmental scientist, in that order. He grew up on a farm in northern NSW and after years of moving around now lives with his amazingly patient wife and children in a completely different part of northern NSW. His work has appeared in Nature Futures, The NoSleep PodcastDaily Science FictionCossmass InfinitiesCast of WondersEtherea Magazine, and other places. He received the 2021 Australian Shadows Award for his short story ‘A Good Big Brother’ published in the award winning anthology ‘Spawn: Weird Horror Tales About Pregnancy, Birth and Babies’. He was a finalist for the 2021 Ditmar Award for the same story, and was shortlisted for two Aurealis Awards in 2022 for best horror short story and best fantasy short story. He won the 2022 Conflux Short Story Competition and the 2022 Arcanist Magazine Halloween Flash Fiction Competition (yes, 2022 was a good year), and has received honourable mentions in the Australasian Horror Writers Association Robert N Stephenson Flash Fiction & Short Story Competition in both flash and short story categories. He is a committee member of the AHWA, where he tries to be useful.

He is an academic in his other life, and researches pollution and environmental sustainability. You can find his sporadic attempts at humour on twitter @MKTighewrites and other info at https://matttighe.weebly.com/ (including a cool picture his son drew of his father’s brain).

This title will be released world-wide in June 2025.
