We have recently created a number of new roles in our company and it is timely to give everybody an idea of who’s who.
Firstly, in terms of structure, IFWG Publishing is divided into two geographic imprints:
- IFWG Publishing Australia (Australian, UK and New Zealand reach)
- IFWG Publishing (International) (North America and other countries not previously covered)
IFWG Publishing Australia is also the publisher of SQ Mag, our international, free speculative ezine, and also is the publisher of the elite Dark Phases sub-imprint.
The following roles are at play in IFWG Publishing (both imprints):
- Managing Director and Chief Editor: Gerry Huntman (Australia)
- Marketing Director: Stephen McCracken (Australia)
- Publicist: Grace Chan (Canada – new position)
- Submissions and Content Editors (content editing roles are new):
- Esme Carpenter (UK – soon, USA)
- Warren Goodwin (USA)
- Copy Editors:
- Sophie Yorkston (Australia)
- Louise Zedda-Sampson (Australia)
- SQ Mag Editor in Chief: Sophie Yorkston (Australia)
We also have proofreaders, SQ Mag slush readers, designers and artists, and regular contributors to SQ Mag – all of whom we are grateful for their work.
We are also currently in the process of acquiring an international distributor to handle international print and ebook distribution for select titles, with the view to better outlet penetration (online, library, academic institution, and bricks and mortar retailers). More on this in coming months.
We have waited 2 years for the sequel to Buxacan Spicerunner, and now we have the final instalment of the great pirate fantasy adventure series. And Warren Goodwin delivers in spades with Port Buxaca. Thanks to Jeffery E Doherty for a great scene from the book depicted on the front cover, matching marvellously the first title.
Sako Pizi has been very busy. He’s fought off or eluded every warship he’s encountered, and taken or looted every cargo runner he’s seen. He took a company slaverunner from Chains and Clavvish Enterprises, and neither crew nor cargo have been seen since. He looted the Northern Trading Company’s colony of Stafa and burned it to the ground. He held Sevulian Lord Arvin’s children for ransom, and did the same to Falero, the nephew of the Jono Queen. He’s currently sailing in an Alarfaji vessel, and he killed one of their princes to get it.
The authorities in Sevulia and the Republic of Agresia want to see him hang. The Tayan Navy wants his head. A noble in Jonos wants to remove another part of his anatomy. And the Alarfaji are on the way south, looking for answers concerning their prince.
A cautious sailor of enterprise might just sail for parts unknown to wait for the heat to die down. But Sako has never been cautious…
Port Buxaca is now available through all good online print stores (for example, Amazon), including great deals through the publisher. Ebooks will be available soon.
It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of Larry Ivkovich‘s second instalment to The Spirit Winds Quartet. Warriors of the Light continues the adventures of Kim Yoshima and her companions – an adventure that spans time and many exotic lands.
After returning from her time-traveling adventures in 16th Century Japan, Kim Yoshima finds adjusting to her old life isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. Neither is it for her friends, Shioko Yoshima, Jackson Yamaguchi, and Wayne Brewster.
All suffer trauma of varying degrees, struggling to adapt and reconcile the past and present, and what role they now have in the world.
But, all is not well in the multiverse either. Not every mythological creature torn out of time-and-place by the Spirit Winds was sent back to its own realm. Some still exist in our world and hunger to go home.
To do so, they need Kim Yoshima’s esper powers and will strive to harness them any way they can, even if it means Kim’s death.
And if that isn’t enough, an old enemy of Kim’s makes a startling return.
The novel, and its ebook versions, can be found at all good online stores (such as Amazon), as well as direct from the publisher.
A Kingdom Beneath the Waves is book 2 of the Garza Twins series by David Bowles, sequel to the award winning The Smoking Mirror. We are pleased to announce the release of the trade paperback edition.
The Garza family’s Christmas vacation in Mexico is cut short by the appearance of Pingo, one of the tzapame–Little People. The news is grim–a rogue prince from an ancient undersea kingdom is seeking the Shadow Stone, a device he will use to flood the world and wipe out humanity.
Now Carol and Johnny must join a group of merfolk and travel into the deepest chasms of the Pacific Ocean to stop him and his monstrous army with their savage magic.
The Smoking Mirror can be purchased in hardcover or trader paperback form from any good online or bricks and mortar bookseller, or directly from the publisher. The Amazon link is now available.
