We have finally arrived at that time of the year when we are seeking new material for 2015, and perhaps a little into 2016. What makes this year different from the past is that we have divided our call for submissions into two geographies, aligned with our two imprints: Australian, UK and New Zealand titles go to IFWG Publishing Australia, and US and other international submissions go to IFWG Publishing. This is simply aligning with the reason why we have the two imprints: we want to target Australian content (for example) to the Australian reading public. This requires the use and expert support of Australian English, and we want to make sure we have access to printers in Australia. The same goes for all geographies.
In line with our call for submissions, we have also been busy with our publishing schedules with what we have already committed to, including recent contracts. And we have quite a lot to look forward to over the next 18 months or so.
Probably the most exciting contract signing over recent weeks is with Robert Hood, ‘Australia’s Godfather of Horror’. Robert has written excellent horror fiction for a long time, and is considered an authority in zombie and ghost stories, amongst other specialties. With recognition that Robert’s catalogue of ghost stories is extensive and penetrating, we have agreed with him to publish his complete set in a collection in the first half of 2015. Our current idea is to publish a massive single-volume, hard cover book around March 2015, with a limited run and each signed by the author. Soon after we will release the same work over two volumes in trade paperback format. It’s that big. You can find out more about Robert at his website, and we will post more detailed information about this exciting set of titles soon.
Along with this big news, we are also publishing sequels to a number of existing series (The Empire, The Sixth Precept, Brumbies, The Infinity Trap, to name some), as well as some new stand-alones from our stable of authors. More on all these new titles will be detailed in a later newsletter. Amidst this busy schedule we are looking for a few titles for each imprint. The details can be found:
