News: Formal Book Launch of Loria, by Jesse McMinn

IFWG Publishing is pleased to report on the official release of Loria, Book 1 of the Tower series, by Jesse McMinn. It was appropriately held in his home town of Uxbridge, Ontario (Canada).

He had over 50 people attend the event at Blue Heron Books, and sold many copies of Loria. One fan (of Jesse’s Legend Of Maxx webcomic) had his father drive him 2 hours so he could purchase a book and have it signed. There were also orders for more copies (from people who could not attend the launch) so that was also a nice bonus!

Many people who came out had already purchased books and came to meet him and have him sign. Two local newspapers came out to take photos so we expect to see something in them in coming weeks.

Jesse and his family were really happy with the turn out and feel it was a big success! We agree with them!

Here are a few snaps of the event – like the book cover cake!

News: The Devil Came East new cover

As part of our title improvement program, we have rebadged our crime thriller, The Devil Came East, by Geri Fitzsimmons and Andy Stephenson.

TDCE v1d RGB cover only

Had Dr. Neil Harris, a sincere, genuine psychiatrist and radio talk show host, not become concerned, the killing rampage of the devil might have gone unnoticed. Perhaps, the authorities would have never discovered the trail of bodies in his wake. The young women who died might have been destined to be no more than a statistic, one among a number of tragic deaths of girls who’d lost their will to live, among the masses of New York City.

The devil disguised his crimes well until Neil mentioned his concerns to his long time friend, Detective Sergeant Joseph Farley of the 61st precinct of the NYPD. From his conversation with Neil, Farley decides to delve into what turns out to be a string of killings by a serial killer, knowing neither remorse nor fear.

Joe Farley and his men strive to catch the devil before he strikes again or escapes to hunt victims in another locale, while they face personal problems and the politics of the city of New York.

The devil targets his next victim….

A compelling, mysterious cover by Elizabeth Lang, that captures the atmosphere of the novel.

Some print and ebook online stores will be showing the old cover for a while but all purchases will contain the new cover. It can be bought from out print and ebook stores now.

Appointment of Marketing Director

It is with pleasure that I announce the appointment of Stephen McCracken as IFWG Publishing’s Marketing Director.

He will take up his role in October/November 2014, however, he will be having an extended vacation in Canada/US/and possibly beyond in August/September, and is hoping to visit some of our authors on his journey.

He is based in Australia (soon, Melbourne, Victoria), and will also have an opportunity to meet the authors in this region of the globe.

IFWG Publishing has been in dire need of a marketer/publicist for its North American/International/Australian/UK operations, as well as SQ Mag, for a long time, and this appointment represents yet another tangible sign of our growth and maturity.

An early welcome to Steve! More details about him will appear in coming months.

News: Constellation Station new cover

As part of our title improvement program, we have rebadged our wonderful, imaginative children’s title, Constellation Station, by Gary Alexander Azerier and illustrated by Ioanny Dimov.

Constellation Station Front Cover 2014

Karl opened the book of maps. Inside, however, there were no maps. There seemed to be…a story!

It began: Through his room window, Karl could see the night was thick, but he could see pinpoints of gold and patches of orange light scattered along the horizon. Soon, thought Karl, he would reach Constellation Station. He had been planning this trip for as long as he could remember and now, finally, his dream would become realized…

A great, evocative cover by Ioanny Dimov (art) and Elizabeth Lang (design).

Some print and ebook online stores will be showing the old cover for a while but all purchases will contain the new cover. It can be bought from our print and ebook stores now.

A Word From The Editor

The month has flown by fast indeed, and IFWG Publishing, along with IFWG Publishing Australia, have been hard at work with our projects. Sealskin Coast is just looking great, currently in the capable hands of excellent proofreaders and cover designers, and David Sperry’s The Pouakai is nearing completion of editing. We take our time to do it right.

Talking about doing it right, despite the fantastic artwork by Isaiah Stephens that had graced an earlier title, the urban fantasy The Sixth Precept by Larry Ivkovich, we have decided to release a new cover for it, designed by Elizabeth Lang. We are sure everyone agrees with us that it is a striking cover.

On behalf of IFWG Publishing Australia, I would like to congratulate their effort – especially Sophie Yorkston – for putting together an amazing selection of speculative short stories, for the forthcoming SQ Mag – Australiana Edition. Getting original fiction from authors like Sean Williams, Kaaron Warren and Alan Baxter, is no mean feat, along with 5 stories by upcoming authors. I know Sophie put a lot of work into this edition, and I for one am looking forward to its release on 1 May 2014.

Until next month, I wish you, and all those close to you, hours of reading enjoyment.
